It measures the peak loudness of your audio frame by frame, entirely on your own machine, and marks every stretch that stays under the threshold for longer than your minimum silence. The threshold is auto-tuned to each clip from its own loudness distribution, so a whisper-quiet lapel recording and a loud room both get sensible cuts. From there you adjust the threshold, the minimum silence and the padding around each cut, and the waveform updates as you drag.

Yes, 100%. All analysis and trimming happen locally on your device — your video and audio files are never uploaded anywhere, so personal and corporate footage stays private. The only thing that ever leaves your machine is your license key when you activate, and never any media.

You can hand the finished sequence to DaVinci Resolve (EDL), Apple Final Cut Pro (FCPXML) or Adobe Premiere Pro (XML) and keep cutting there — every edit point is written on a whole frame, so nothing lands off the frame boundary. Or skip the round trip entirely and render a finished MP4 straight out of the app.

Recordings from phones, screen capture and video calls are often Variable Frame Rate: frames arrive when they arrive, which makes audio drift out of sync once an editor conforms them. SilenceTrimmer reads the real per-frame timing inside the file instead of trusting the container average, then conforms to Constant Frame Rate automatically on every render. For a timeline export it offers to convert first, and the Tools menu has a standalone converter for any files you want fixed up front.

The editing itself is fully offline. A connection is needed once — to download the app and to start your trial or activate your license — and after that everything keeps working without one, because your license is verified locally. Update checks also use the connection when you have it.
